Selfless Whisper

The interest generated by Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'  has helped to wear away some of the tired old prejudices which environmentalists have faced in the general public for many years. Now, instead of mindlessly exploiting our planet, there are at least some initiatives which are being implemented to slow down the inevitable.

The land dries up,

The oceans fry.

The rich use power,

And the poorest die.

No ethics to see,

The greed will thrive,

On a dying Earth,

Where you won’t survive.

Who is right?

Can’t you see that time is running out?

Yet we live,

Like it doesn’t really matter,

The world, it moves.

Can’t you read the apathy?

No urgency.

Just a selfless whisper all alone…..

CHORUS

And silent,

At the dawn of a new adversity.

There’s no justice.

Though the cries of remorse ring soulfully.

And so focussed,

On the moment of time that you don’t foresee.

It’s your future,

And you can’t understand why they let it be.

Taking flight,

If it’s out of mind, it’s out of sight.

Close your eyes,

And you’ll wake into a future,

Where selfish rules,

And the ones you thought you knew so well,

Turn away,

Just a selfless whisper all alone…..

CHORUS

Minds are lame,

Couldn’t help but notice how it all,

Looks the same.

Like the way you’re meant to see it.

The strange idea,

Make a world that thrives on pain and fear.

No, I’ll pass.

Just a selfless whisper all alone…..

CHORUS
